Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I know there's lots of these out there and everyone has their own story.
I don't want to dwell on the negative; this, for me, is about remembering the good stuff whilst obviously raising some cash for a great cause in the process.
Linda Layfield is the mum of two of my oldest friends. She was a nurse at a local GP's practice and had a fabulously northern way about her...caring but took absolutely no nonsense!!!
I first had the pleasure of meeting Linda when I was 16 when she and her husband George, on more than one occasion, kindly used to let a big group of rowdy teenage girls get ready in her conservatory for many a night out in the local club, the 'Bongo'.
I asked the girls (and Phil!) what their favourite memories of Linda were. Everyone remembers a strong woman, one with an infectious laugh and one with a passion for football that brought some unprintable words out of her!!! One particular story that came up more than once was when Linda, less than pleased (put mildly I suspect) had to have particularly stern words with Vicky after she fell in the bath, ever so slightly inebriated. I don't think any of us were staying that night thankfully! Bet there weren't any bacon butties on offer that morning!!
Linda was an absolute treasure and without getting too sad, I feel very honoured to have met her and I'm sure I speak for many when I say that.
