Story
TLG (Transforming Lives for Good) is a Christian charity that helps churches to bring hope and a future for struggling children. From school exclusion, to poverty and holiday hunger, there are children across the UK facing some of the toughest starts in life. TLG are all about believing change is possible and that's why in all their work lies an unchanging resolve to transform lives for good.
TLG has 3 branches to help struggling children and their families. These are Early Intervention, Make Lunch and Education Centres. Early Intervention provides support to struggling children in primary schools who are at risk of exclusion to help them enjoy school again. Make Lunch supports families who struggle with holiday hunger by providing hot meals during the holiday. The Education Centres support excluded teenagers get back into mainstream school.
I joined TLG in september as an intern working at the Bradford Central Education Centre and it has really opened my eyes to the struggles young people are facing everyday. Seeing them as more then 'the naughty kids' and actually understanding them, watching their ambition grow and trust forming between other students and adults. Being able to see how TLG works across the UK to bring hope to children and families who need it the most. This is why I am raising money for TLG, so we can transform more children's lives for good.
So together the 4 interns and myself will be collectively walking 65 miles (the distance between Bradford Central EC and Hull EC) over the 28th and 29th May-13 miles each! This route is significant because the Bradford EC marks the beginning of TLG, and the Hull EC is the most recent centre to be set up which launched at the beginning of 2020 – so along the way we’ll be sharing about different milestones in the TLG story and how we got from Bradford to Hull, with all the other exciting bits that happened in between!
We’d be hugely appreciative of any support you can give so please donate if you are able and share this Just Giving page! You can check out the TLG website to find out more https://www.tlg.org.uk
