Story
I had an eating disorder in my teens and know how desperately hard it is to live with. Getting support can be difficult mentally and practically, with resources stretched and waiting times getting longer and longer.
Beat do incredible work to support those living with an eating disorder (and their loved ones). I now volunteer with them as a peer support befriender, but recently I've felt the urge to do more. Since lockdown started in March 2020, Beat has seen a 300% increase in demand for their helplines and they need more funds to meet this demand. After the recent news of Nikki Grahame's death (while she was crowdfunding for treatment), the need for money in this area has never felt more desperate.
So, to tie in with the Captain Tom 100 challenge, I'll be challenging myself to come up with 100 self-worth tips over the Bank holiday weekend (April 30th - May 3rd) and will then share one tip a day for 100 days on Instagram stories (@katbluejay) and Twitter (@bluejayblog).
For me, a lack of self-worth fed into my eating disorder and since my recovery I've seen how powerful it can be to build it back up and that's what I hope I can help with, in a small way, by sharing these tips.
Any donation is greatly appreciated and will help Beat continue to do the fantastic work they do.
