Story
Over the last year, I have gotten into Triathlons & Open Water Swimming and I have decided to challenge myself by doing the London Classics. For a traditionally power-based athlete, this level of endurance is probably absolutely biting off more than I can comfortably chew. But hey, it's a challenge right?!
Whenever I do a race, people ask me firstly am I mad and secondly what I am raising money for. And usually, the answer is I'm not (for both questions). So I thought it was time I put my training into raising money for a worthy cause.
I was inspired by my friend's sister who works with the homeless. It was humbling to hear her speak about how underfunded they were and how much of a battle it was just to maintain the status quo. The statistics around how vulnerable a lot of people in London are to becoming homeless are staggering. It is so easy to fall into homelessness and exceptionally difficult to get out without help. So I looked for a charity that worked proactively with people to find avenues to get people back to living a happy, safe, productive life. This is where I came across Single Homeless Project. I am so excited to raise money for such a great cause. Please give generously!
