Story
THANKS for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On January 17, 2012, I successfully climbed to the summit of Kilimanjaro Mountain in Tanzania, to mark my 40th birthday and to raise money for Funding Neuro, a charity seeking the cure for Parksonson's and other neurological diseases
My inspiration was Bryn Williams a father-of-two from Glasgow, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s four years ago, aged just 36.
He refused to belive the doctors who gave him a grim prognosis. Instead he set up Wobbly Williams, to raise awareness of young onset Parkinson’s in a positive and optimistic way, and Funding Neuro, to fund pioneering research into cures for neurological conditions.
Many of us know someone who has been affected by a devastating neurological condition but with funding, a cure may be just round the corner.
It was a wonderful privilege to join the team climbing the great white mountain of Africa, which included the rugby legend Gavin Hasting and Miss Scotland Jennifer Reoch.
The six-day climb was exhausting, arduous, amazing, and unforgettable.
Thinking of all the amazing generosity of everyone who has sponsored me truly kept me going, especially on the long overnight climb to the summit.
But I still have some way to go, so please help with a donation, however small. Like the tiny steps we took to reach the top of Kili', each one made a difference.
