My mum Donna and I are both running the London Marathon in April 2023 to raise funds and awareness for Lupus UK. My sister Shawny has had Lupus since she was 17. 

Lupus is a disease I had never heard of prior to Shawny's diagnosis. Lupus is a chronic life-long disease that occurs when your body's immune system attacks your own tissues and organs, the symptoms of this are inflammation and pain in any part of the body. The most common areas affected are; skin, joints, blood vessels, kidneys & heart.

There is currently no cure for Lupus only medication to manage the symptoms and achieve a better quality of life for those living with the disease. Any funding to Lupus UK supports further research towards their vision 'A world where people with Lupus can live full and active lives'
