Fundraising for The Children's Trust
I first heard about The Children’s Trust back in 2009 when my then boyfriend (now husband 😊) was off to the Topgear track to raise money for them. Since then I have learnt so much about the trust and seen for myself all the amazing work that they do, that it has become a charity that I have continued support.
Here is a little bit about them…
We are the UK's leading charity for children with brain injury and
neurodisability. We deliver rehabilitation, education and community services through skilled teams who work with children and young people, and their families.
Every year 40,000 children in the UK are left with a brain injury as a result of an accident or illness and it can be devastating – they may no longer be able to walk, talk, stand, sit, or feed themselves sometimes all of these abilities.
At The Children’s Trust, we aim to help rebuild as many of their skills as possible, as well as their self-esteem. A child’s confidence is central to that relearning.
We help children do this through play, exploration, laughter and having fun; things that are often absent when a child has limited mobility or has had a challenging time. By combining music, singing, arts and crafts, day trips and other activities, with therapy, healthcare and education, children do not focus on what they cannot do, they just do it and have fun.
I couldn’t resist, when back in January they called me and said they had a spare marathon space and asked if I wanted it. It’s a hard time for lots of people, including charities, so what better time to lace up my trainers, put my fundraising hat on and start raising as much money as I can for this amazing charity.
Thank you for reading and if you can afford to sponsor my efforts, no matter how big or small, it would be truly appreciated and spent wisely by the Trust on the great work they do.
