Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
When our baby Henry was 9 weeks old, he was admitted into PICU (paediatric intensive care unit) at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge, with severe respiratory problems caused by a virus. We were able to stay and sleep at Acorn House, run by the Sick Children's Trust, so that we were as close as possible to him, during this awful and stressful time. Their kindness and care was truly amazing.
Luckily for us, we were only there for 3 or 4 days and Henry eventually made a full recovery, after several more hospital visits. For many families, especially those with children who have long term health conditions, the 'homes from home' that are provided by the Sick Children's Trust at several major children's hospitals, are essential for maintaining some sort of normality. They allow parents, grandparents, siblings and carers to relax and spend time together, away from the hospital environment, whilst being on site as their child receives vital medical treatment.
I would love to be able to give something back to a charity that was there for us when we needed them the most.
Many thanks,
Katrina
