Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

We - a group of 20 Googlers - are supporting PeacePlayers International by raising money and helping to organise a Basketball tournament in Belfast with the aim of connecting Protestant and Catholic young people though sports. Google will match the raised amount and donate to PeacePlayers International.

PeacePlayers International (PPI) was founded in 2001 shortly after Peace was made in Northern Ireland. However, communities remain divided in Northern Ireland. There are currently 99 barriers in Belfast that separate the two major communities and only 6% of schools are integrated.

PeacePlayers is a great initiative to overcome these barriers by allowing children to play and live together.

At PeacePlayers International - Northern Ireland we use sport - in particular the game of basketball - to build bridges between children and young adults who live in divided communities. Our programmes are based on the belief that children who play together can learn to live together.
