Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Just a quick introduction. My name is Kati, I am a 46 year old mother of four and intend to climb Kilimanjaro in February 2020. It's great that you are here now reading my story.

I love nature, the tranquility and the fierceness of it. I am originally Finnish and live now in Finland where we mostly have rather calm weather, but four seasons do make it interesting. The cold is really cold here and hot is well... not that hot.

I am also Australian and in Queensland we only had two seasons; hot summer and bloody hot summer :) There the fierceness of the nature with it's droughts, floods and cyclones did make you humble. I loved hiking there too and got to visit many lovely and varied national forests.

So I am so excited to be doing this!! But to start my journey to Kilimanjaro I first need to climb three peaks in the Lake district in UK called Helvellyn, Cat Bells and  Skiddaw in October. This is our "test" climb and if I survive those then Kili in Feb 2020!! Yay!!

Our team name is Ubuntu and we chose the name because it describes well our challenge how together we will accomplish each our best and how we are all one on this planet and with this challenge we can help others through Unicef UK .

Word Ubuntu is translated as "I am because we are," or "humanity towards others".

Once again thank you for donating to our cause and please follow me as I intend create a few challenges along the way and keep a personal blog
https://katikaa.blog/ (Blog will be updated regularly so easiest way is to stay on top is to follow the blog) about generally getting ready both physically and mentally.
