Story
I am running the London Marathon on 26th April 2020 for the Chase Farm Charity as part of the Royal Free Charity.
Some of you already know I was born at Chase Farm Hospital but what you might not know is that over 25 years ago, it was the first hospital I worked in! The lovely staff set me on my journey towards nursing and midwifery and were as welcoming and encouraging on my first day as they have been every day since.
More recently, I was fortunate enough to help develop the brand new hospital. Opened on 18 September 2018, the new Chase Farm Hospital is the first all-digital hospital in the UK. Patients and visitors benefit from electronic booking systems, state of the art clinical areas and bright and welcoming environments. Chase Farm Hospital serves all patients from clinical appointments and urgent care visits to planned operations.
The Chase Farm Charity manages the hospital volunteers, provides massage therapy for patients receiving treatment in the chemotherapy unit and supports patient care by fundraising for additional equipment. At Chase Farm Hospital, technology is key and the support of the charity is vital to help patients feel comfortable familiarising themselves with the new environment and for staff to have the latest equipment to help with diagnosis and patient care. The charity provides distraction toys and activities for younger patients; and those with dementia and learning difficulties and additional equipment to help staff provide the best treatment possible.
