Fundraising for Dementia UK
A group of CPP members are getting together in March to complete a 100Km challenge with our dogs to raise funds for Dementia UK. Dementia has touched many of our lives, most commonly through a family member and we’ve seen how a life can be changed beyond recognition when Dementia takes hold. A once happy and active person can become a shadow of their former self which is terrifying for them but heart breaking for those close to them. We’ve decided to take on this challenge to raise awareness and raise funds for this amazing charity who provide specialist nurses to support affected families. The word 'dementia' describes a set of symptoms that over time can affect memory, problem-solving, language and behaviour. Alzheimer's disease is the most common type of dementia. There are currently around 900,000 people in the UK living with dementia. It mainly affects people over the age of 65. The likelihood of developing dementia increases significantly with age. One in 14 people aged over 65 has dementia. This rises to 1 in 6 for people aged over 80. If you're in the position to sponsor us we'd be very grateful :)
