Story
Defying all expectations and beating the odds, my precious nephew, Freddie P-C arrived 7 weeks early. He was rushed into intensive care where he spent the next 25 days fighting for his life. Freddie was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect, multiple cysts on his lungs and persistent swelling with a build-up of fluid throughout his body. His chance of survival was slim, however, the whole team at MFT fought for him every single day.
Whilst Freddie was under the care of the MFT, he got to meet his big sister Ava. Ava was supported by the trust, not only whilst Freddie was in ICU, but also afterwards. To this day, the MFT have been a godsend to this family, providing continued support.
One day, it all became too much for my little nephew. So much so that his parents, Andy and Ings (My brother and sister-in-law) had to make that heart-breaking decision that no parent should ever have to make. It was time to let Freddie rest. Freddie passed away at 8.17pm on the 13th of January 2017.
My daughter, Katie, is doing the Lantern Walk in honour of her cousin Freddie. Katie never got the chance to meet him like I did, however she is determined to raise money for the MFT as she knows how much they cared for and looked after her family.
