Story

Sepsis is a cause close to all our hearts and we know only to well the devastating effect it can have.

Oliver and Katie are both Support Nurses at the UKST, and Katie and Fiona sadly lost a dear friend to sepsis. This was a big motivating factor in Katie joining the Support Team, to help and support others.

We are all passionate about raising sepsis awareness and improving the support for those affected. Fundraising is at the heart of our fight and helps to spark the question: “What is sepsis? This can help prevent unnecessary suffering and loss of life through knowledge & awareness of symptoms and knowing when to ask for help.

Fundraising also allows us to continue to provide our vital support work to support those affected by sepsis. Last year we supported over 3000 people. Without our amazing supporters this wouldn't be possible and more people would be left with nowhere to turn.

So please, help us to continue with the work we do and support more people in the future!

Sepsis accounts for 48,000 deaths annually in the UK, that’s more than breast, bowel and prostate cancer put together. Sepsis is what happens when our immune system overreacts to an infection. Symptoms initially present as flu like but can rapidly deteriorate into a life threatening condition.
