Story
As Glennon Doyle so eloquently puts it "there is no such thing as other people's children". Becoming a mom this year drives my motivation for the Cerner Charitable Foundation's mission even deeper. It's our responsibility to care for those who are not able to care for themselves.
I have been volunteering with Cerner Charitable Foundation (https://www.cernercharitablefoundation.org/) for over 5 years now. I am inspired by the outcomes this team continues to bring improving the lives of children, teens, and families in Kansas City, the US, and internationally.
A unique characteristic of the Cerner Charitable Foundation is that case grants are fully awarded to children/families in need. There are so many well intentioned NGOs and philanthropic organizations which fund only a piece of the puzzle but often times children and families remain in need of support. Healthcare is such a complex puzzle, I can't even imagine being in the midst of a critical health need and also being worried about how to pay for it all with bills coming at me from many different providers. I sat on the funding advisory board for a couple years and got to take part first hand in the process of funding children in need. I love that The Foundation fully funds awarded cases, every dollar donated directly impacts children and families.
Additionally I love the proactive measures The Foundation supports, promotes, and has established for communities, schools, and families. Healthy kid screenings, mental health programs for middle schoolers, and flu shots - just to name a few! It's so important to intervene and redirect before things become critical. Up stream solutions are true game changers for the world - an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
Your generosity directly funds: equipment, medicine, surgeries, transportation, wellness screenings, social-emotional support, health education initiatives and so much more! Together we are creating healthier tomorrows and building stronger communities.
