Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
This is a charity close to my heart. Please help me to raise money for the Conservancy by sponsoring my 1/2 Marathon in Kenya on June 28th. All money raised goes to towards wildlife conservation and development programs for the local community.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Tusk Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
The marathon is run on dirt roads, over a 42km route (21km for the half-marathon), through some of East Africa’s most beautiful scenery. Mount Kenya lies to the south and there are breath-taking views north towards Samburu and Mount Lololokwe. The heavily protected 55,000 acre wildlife sanctuary is home to over 80 rhino, herds of elephant and a vast assortment of plains game including eland, zebra, giraffe, buffalo and much more. The course is watched over by a large and experienced team of armed rangers, with a helicopter and spotter plane in the air throughout the race. Both races start at 7am. Water stations and first aid points are situated very 2.5km. Medical support is provided by AMREF, the Red Cross and local hospitals
Since its inception in 2000, the Safaricom Marathon has raised over KSH 70,000,000 (US$1,000,000) for a range of projects in northern Kenya. Last year's event raised KSH 14,490,000 (US$210,000). Every team is asked to raise a minimum of KSH 100,000 in sponsorship, which is then distributed to conservation, education, healthcare and community development projects in Northern Kenya . It is a case of running in Africa for Africa.
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support.
