Story
On December 12th 2020, our whole world came crashing down when our wonderful Dad passed away from a battle with aggressive NSCLC. It happened so terrifyingly quick. In the final week of October, he felt breathless on his usual walk to work and got rushed to hospital. On November 5th, we found out it was cancer. And by December 12th, he was gone. We couldn’t even spend one final Christmas together.
We might be biased, but our Dad was the best. He was adored by everyone who knew him for his constantly positive attitude and his passion for everything he did. He’d stop to chat to literally anybody, and we’ve had endless comments from friends and neighbours who miss his conversations. He was our rock, our hero, our inspiration, and everyone’s favourite person in the room.
The past seven months has been the most difficult time of our lives, but we know he would want us to turn our pain into something positive. So this year, my sister Laura and I have decided to take part in the Roy Castle Step into Summer event, walking in his memory and hopefully raising some money for charity along the way.
It’s too late for us to help our Dad, but if we can help just one other family from going through the pain that we’ve experienced, then we’ll do anything we can to help. We’d be grateful for even the smallest donation because something is better than nothing, and enough somethings can make a change.
Much love, Katie & Laura
