Story
We are running the London Marathon 2024 for the Peace Hospice Watford which is part of Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care, in memory of our amazing Dad, Tim Harrington.
Our Dad was diagnosed with cancer in 2018, he was an amazing man and he dealt with all the difficulties that his diagnosis and treatment brought during his illness. After a strong fight, in November 2021 we were given the devastating news that Dad only had a matter of weeks left to live. Dad had always expressed to us that he would like to be at home until the end and we were determined to see this through for him.
In dad’s last few days, we had some visits from the Peace Hospice Nurses who gave us the support and confidence to see out Dad’s wish. The help and guidance we had as a family in Dad’s final few days and the days following his passing were priceless; and we will be forever grateful for their efforts to make him as comfortable as possible. We honestly believe that the Peace Hospice Care nurses made what was the hardest moment of our lives, a little less scary and daunting.
Our Dad passed away peacefully at home on the 21st December 2021 surrounded by his family.
As first time runners, we are very nervous for the challenge but we are so proud to be running in memory of our Dad. We hope to raise money so that Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care can continue to do their wonderful work and more families like ours can be supported. We are glad to be able to give something back to show our gratitude for their help during a terrible time for our family.
Dad was just the best; we miss him every single day and we hope to make him proud.
Any donations will be hugely appreciated.
