Story

I did it! thankyou to everyone who donated and to all those who will still donate ;-) the page is still active for online donations. and thanks to all my teammates who helped me through the course!

one week to go! still not reached my target do over the next 7 days you will be plagued with posts asking for money! I'm still on annual leave yet not a drop of alcohol will pass my lips til the big day, think about me when you're enjoying yours and donate! the countdown is well and truly on!

2 weeks til the big day and I'll be continuing parkrun tourism at eastleigh this morning. I'm still £100 off my target though! it's really easy to donate, just click the link below!

4 Weeks to go! Countdown's on now!

So it's the 4th of July and here are 4 good reasons to donate to a great cause: 1. It's a year to the day since Ian Hunter passed away having suffered from mesothelioma. 2. Today would have been his 74th birthday. 3. I'm running my longest training run today, before backshift! 4. I'm still £155 off my target! Follow the link below for quick and easy online donations that go straight to the charity! Www.justgiving.com/Katie-Scott212

8 mile run followed by a cold bath, if you'd heard my screams in that bath you'd be paying up straight away!! Anything you can spare is a big help, and might make my aching legs feel a little better!

In the last 17 days I've tracked 103km in my 5x50 challenge, todays battle with gale force winds was a struggle and really feeling the burn now! Please keep me motivated to get back on it tomorrow by donating whatever you can spare, cos I've got a hell of a lot more training to do!

Big thanks to Amanda Bond and Andrew Bell for your generous donations! Makes the sore legs all worth it!

Dunbar 10k today, less than half a tough mudder and time's ticking away. Instead of buying me a drink tonight why not sponsor me and show your support!?

Day 7 of 50 and today i'm running the Dunbar 10k. However this is still less than half the tough mudder and time's ticking away! So for just the price of a drink this weekend why not sponsor me and show your support, cos some of us won't be drinking tonight!

Big thanks to Alison snowie for your donation! 20% reached, might have to raise this target!

Just signed up to 5x50. A challenge to travel 5k under my own steam every day for the next 50 days! this should compliment my training nicely but I'll need support every day to keep it up! You can show your support by donating whatever you can to keep me going!

A wee 2 miler to try out the new shoes today, they're feeling good. Only another 10 miles and a bunch of mental obstacles to go! Keep donating please cos it looks like a long road!

Trail shoes bought! Don't know how much difference they'll make in THAT much mud, but as they say, every little helps!

So it's payday for a lot of you, i'm sure you can spare a couple of quid to see me suffer! Who's gonna be my first sponsor?

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

When Neil's dad was diagnosed with Mesothelioma last year Asbestos Action Tayside were there from day one with practical advice and support. They sorted out care, and compensation claims for Ian through this difficult time, helping him, his family and friends concentrate on making the most of Ian's last months.

Before last year I had never heard of Asbestos Action Tayside, however the support they provide is invaluable.

A few stats about mesothelioma in th UK:

  • Someone dies every 5 hours from mesothelioma* in the U.K.

  • The annual death toll is over 2,000 per year in the UK and will remain above 1,500 until about 2025.

  • There are 33% more deaths from mesothelioma than from cervical cancer.

  • Deaths from mesothelioma have increased ten-fold since 1968 in the U.K.

  • There will be over a million deaths in Western Europe by 2035.

  • The disease can take between 20 to 50 years to develop following exposure to asbestos.

  • The greatest risk group are men born between 1945 and 1950.

  • Mesothelioma cases have increased three-fold since 1990.

  • Scientists predict that by 2025, 25,000 Scots will have died from asbestos related diseases; this in a country with only 5,000,000 people.
