Story
Hello.
So, I did it! I hauled myself around the London Marathon on Oct 2 in 4 hours 16 minutes. Not a novel observation, but those last miles are... hard. Super hard. It's a lot of steps when you're 5'2''.
One of the things that helped me in the final stretch was the knowledge that so many of you have been so super generous in supporting my fundraising for the British Heart Foundation.
This is an important charity for me. Some of you know that I lost my dad in 2006 to sudden heart failure. There was no warning at all. He had just cycled to the pub to celebrate the birth of my daughter, his first grandchild, and... gone. He was 56.
It was an incredibly tough time for me and my family. I hope the money I've raised will help prevent other families going through the same thing. So, thank you.
If you haven't donated already, you still can!
A £24 donation to the British Heart Foundation can pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist working on heart and circulatory disease. You can make a difference.
If you're even slightly tempted to give the marathon a go, do it. It's an amazing experience.
Thank you,
Katie x
