Story
I am running the London Marathon 2021(in addition to the virtual one in 2020) and hoping to achieve the distance of Lands End to John O’Groats in my training! A total of 874 miles in aid of Meningitis Research Foundation because I want to help them achieve their goal of defeating meningitis and septicaemia.
If you didn't already know, I founded The Natural Childcare Company Limited and having moved on I now have some time on my hands!
During my time with the Company, we worked with and supported many families, including a very special family whose boy was diagnosed with Septicaemia at the age of 8 months. The lovely boy was left with considerable brain damage causing severe communication and cognitive delay, autism and epilepsy.
Seeing first hand the devastating impact Meningitis and Septicaemia can have on the lives of people and their families has made me realise the importance of spreading awareness.
So why the marathon? I have lots of reasons not to! Born with deformed feet myself, both legs being in plaster to correct them, having years of wearing special shoes and being under a consultant, then being diagnosed with severe osteoporosis a few years back, have given me the determination to continually improve! I’ve been training hard over the last three years to improve my fitness and having completed my last challenge I decided to go for it!
When I signed up for the Marathon, I’d only ever run 5k and don’t particularly enjoy running but, now I’m up to 10k and determined to achieve this!
Enough said?
During the year I will be running some events so watch this space and I hope you’ll be able to support me to support this wonderful charity raise necessary funds for the future.
