Dexter is nearly 21 months into his 42 month treatment plan for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia! To celebrate hitting the halfway point, of what is such a long treatment, we have decided to get Dexter’s haircut for the 1st time in 2 years! We will be doing this to raise money for the amazing charity Milly’s Smiles. This charity was set up by a mother we met, who's daughter Milly sadly lost her battle with cancer at the age of just 11years old.

Millys smiles makes bags for families that have just been told the devastating and life changing news that their child has cancer.  They include home comforts and essential items to make families hospital stays a little more comfortable.  It's a voluntary charity and every single penny raised goes into creating these bags and your donation will make a difference.  To find out more or raise money directly log onto www.millyssmiles.org.

If we hit the target or more we plan to record Dexter's haircut and post it out as a special occasion on Facebook and to share his smiles and happy 'can do ' attitude..

Dexter’s amazing personality has got him through the last 21 months, the drugs are working and we couldn’t feel happier to now have our little boy back and enjoying life! He still has a long way to go until he rings the end of treatment bell in December 2018 and until then his journey will continue to be a roller coaster. He still receives daily chemo given orally by ourselves, along with IV chemo once a month, 5 days of steroids once a month and a lumbar puncture every 3 months. As the daily chemo supresses Dexter's immunity he is much more prone to picking up bugs etc and if his temperature rises above 38.5 we have to take him into hospital for 2 days of IV antibiotics. But we feel we have a lot to be thankful for which is why we want to do something positive and raise some money for Milly’s smiles.
