Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
With just 6 weeks until the event, a dear friend sent me a link and asked me to sponsor them to do a 10km run to help raise money for Alzheimer’s. The charity is extremely close to her heart as she sadly lost her Mom to Alzheimer’s earlier this year.
I’m not a runner, but had a great urge to set myself the mental and physical challenge of running 10km and joining her in raising money for both Alzheimer’s and Crisis (a homeless charity) which are currently the recipients of Champneys Charitable Foundation.
So, I downloaded a training program and started with great enthusiasm. The first stage was jogging for 2 minutes, walking for 1 minute and repeating for a total of 10 times. Running for 2 minutes felt impossible, so you see the challenge I have of running for 10km! 2 weeks in I got proper poorly and lost at least 10 days of absolutely no training at all. I nearly pulled out completely. Then I slowly got back into it but still had really low energy. This week I have managed to do a 4.8km and 5.6km run so I still have a long way to go but I am so determined to run 10km on Sunday 14th October.
This is a personal challenge for me, working Mom of 4, who never ever thought I could run down the shop, never mind run 10km, but please, please help me to raise some money for 2 amazing charities, helping the many many homeless people out there, and to all those who have or are suffering the horrendous affects of Alzheimer’s.
