Story
Me and my wonderful, supportive boyfriend will be taking
part in the tough mudder 5km challenge in September in memory of Izzy. Izzy was
my best friend. She brought love and sunshine to all those around her even when
that meant there was none left for herself. She helped me become a better
person from the very moment I met her, motivating me to do well and have fun
with everything I did, I will never forget that. Unfortunately, Izzy lost her
life after 6 long years battling ill mental health. Every day she tried so hard
to search for peace that this world just couldn’t offer her. Whilst Izzy had
support from her friends, family and professionals alike, not everyone is so fortunate.
Mental health effects 1 in 4 people at some point in their life and I think we
all know someone close to us who has suffered, yet it is still a widely
stigmatised topic. As we know, our mental health system is severely underfunded,
and the budget is still being cut which has left many people feeling they have
no support system around them. This is why we are raising money for MIND, a
mental health charity whose aim it is to ensure no one feels like they are
alone by providing information and support for those who need it. Their local
mind services support around 500,000 people a year but this is still not enough,
and improvements can only be made with more funds and support from the public.
Any donations of any size will be SO appreciated and will hopefully go a long
way in creating a better future for those suffering. Thank you all so much in
advance and thanks for reading.
