For 6 weeks this summer I will be volunteering with the charity CCD Thailand, whose aims are to provide support and care to disabled children who have been orphaned and abandoned. Due to a religious stigma surrounding disability in Thailand, children are often abandoned by their parents and sent to government run orphanages which provide poor levels of care and hygiene.

The children living in state run orphanages suffer from a wide range of disabilities, both mental and physical, and are often not given appropriate care meaning that their conditions worsen. Many of the wards in the orphanages are overseen by one member of staff who is responsible for looking after around 60 children on their own.

 

By being a member of a volunteering team I am able to provide one extra helping hand in looking after these children.

(100% of donations will be going to the charity as all extra expenses are being funded by myself!)
