Story
Scott Morton and I are running the London Marathon on October 2nd to raise funds for the Cancer Care Appeal to fund a state-of-the-art Paxman Cooling System for the Primrose Unit at Burnley General Teaching Hospital, and in memory of my aunt Lorraine who sadly lost her fight against cancer in 2019.
Whilst Scott is a seasoned Marathon runner (though he doesn't like to talk about it) I had never gone further than 10k before starting this training, so it's really going to be a challenge.... as a back up plan he has promised to drag me over the finish line if my legs give way.
Hair loss can be one of the most upsetting and traumatic side effects of chemotherapy. It is the most visible sign a person is having treatment for cancer and can affect self-confidence and sense of identity.
These amazing machines, developed by Glenn Paxman as a result of his own wife losing her hair through chemotherapy, are compatible with most chemotherapy drugs and have received some wonderful results. The machine is used for all genders and many people have reported that their hair loss was so minimal that using the machines enabled them to 'just feel normal' whilst undergoing treatment.
We are fundraising to help this local hospital charity go above and beyond for patients facing treatment for cancer and help cancer patients keep more of their hair while undergoing chemotherapy. Please give whatever you can to help this worthwhile cause
