So call me crazy, but yes I applied for a place to run the London Marathon 2020 for the Firefighters Charity and to my surprise in mid July I received a phone call saying I had been offered a place! With such limited spaces available each year for the charity at such a huge event I did not expect to get a place! 

But I got one!!!!! 

So now the hard work begins! I could run a few miles at a time anyway but to think that in April 2020 I will be running 26.2 miles around beautiful London! Having watched Alex run it back in 2015, the atmosphere was fantastic and I’ve always said I would love to do it, and now it’s my turn! I know this is going to be hardest few months, and I’m going to have tough days where I don’t want to run and just want to eat chocolate but I know that can’t happen as I need to achieve this for such a brilliant charity! 

So now about the Firefighters Charity! 

It was set up post the Second World War and has grown ever since! The charity works so hard to support firefighters and their families, both with physical and mental health issues. As you may know I work for Cambridgeshire fire service in the control room answering emergency calls, so I see a completely different side of what people expect a firefighter to be, and my husband, Alex, is an on call firefighter within the local community. I know that if myself, Alex or our family ever needed the support the Firefighters Charity would be there for us.

I want to ensure that this charity is going to still be there over the years whilst we are in the service as their support is invaluable to so many people across the country.
