Story
Hi everyone,
This October I will be running the London Marathon. This has been a goal of mine for a while, so I am very pleased that I am going to be able to take part this year.
I have decided to run for Cardiomyopathy UK, as this is a genetic heart condition my mum has.
Cardiomyopathy is a condition that affects your heart muscle causing it to stretch, thicken and become stiff, reducing the hearts ability to efficiently pump blood to the rest of your body. As a result, you may experience fatigue, shortness of breath, dizziness or heart palpitations. In some cases, this condition can lead to sudden death.
My mum was lucky enough to be diagnosed and had open heart surgery last year. She has been doing amazing since, and was able to walk a half marathon 3 months after!! Although this condition cannot be cured, bringing a greater awareness of it and having a diagnosis is really important.
This is why I will be running the London Marathon for Cardiomyopathy UK. Any donations will be greatly appreciated.
