Story
I am doing this challenge to raise money for the critical care team at the UCLH Hospital London, as my father in-law is currently being treated there. It’s been a rough ride since New Years Eve and since he was admitted to the UCLH the family and I have had the up most admiration for the team that are taking very good care of him.
We are not able to visit him due to the restrictions of visitations which has been very hard to bare, but we get to speak to him every two days via zoom calls which are put on by the hospital team. This has been such a comfort for the family. Although he can not look or speak to us he knows we are there with him. Which would also bring so much comfort to him.
My father in-law is such an incredibly supportive, kind, loving and generous man, who would probably hate knowing he has taken up a bed in such a critical care ward. He is humble to the bone and the most family oriented man you will ever come across. His love for his wife and children is unimaginable and the love he has for his 5 grandchildren is unexplainable.
Everyday we are having more positive feedback from the hospital with there continuous daily update calls, everyday without fail. Weather it be a minimal or great, each positive step forward is a step in the right direction to get him home where he belongs.
This is not a sympathy plea of any kind. I am doing this challenge to acknowledge the actions of those we do not see unless we are there. Those that are behind closed doors doing there best but also get negative criticism. We have so much negativity in the world right now, let’s show and acknowledge the positive doings of those we do not see but only read about.
The critical care team provides specialised treatment and close observation for people who suffer severe injuries or sickness at UCLH.
