Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Our nightmare began in july 2013 when our beautiful 2 year old son was overcome with pain in his abdomen. After a long painful few days of tests it was suggested it may be a tumor. Our worlds fell apart after being rushed from our home town Grimsby, to sheffields Childrens hospital where a rare cancerous Wilms' tumor was diagnosed.
From then on our son underwent many painful, scary procedures and treatments, including having a port fitted in this chest( which he still has), surgery to remove the effected kidney and the dreaded chemotherapy. Our family was split up. With myself and my sick son at sheffield children's hospital, and my husband and 5 year old son at home in Grimsby. My baby got really ill, really quickly. He lost over a stone in weight, was heavily reliant on morphine and his beautiful blonde hair fell out in clumps. He seemed to be fading away in front of our eyes. Our 5 year old son had lost his playmate and cried whenever we had stay away from him. He often asked would Harvey die? It was he hardest question I've ever been asked. As the truth was nobody knew! We had only one hope, Sheffiled Childrens Hospital, and it's amazing oncology ward m3.
Throughout our turmoil the staff and amazing doctors at this hospital helped us all to come to terms with our new 'normal' and made the nightmare a little less scary, which was no easy task. The play specialists helped both my sons in so many ways, as did the nurses, consultants and surgeons. But as with all hospitals, it's funds are stretched and it's beds bursting with patients. The only thing that can keep this place being so amazing to so many families and children, is continued funding and support, from people like you!
Harvey is visiting the hospital every 3 months for scans, we hope to remain as out- patients from here on in. With the continued help and support of our consultant Dr Dan Yeomanson.
We need to raise as much money as possible for them, as far too many children' and being diagnosed with cancer and places like the m3 ward need all the funds they can get, to help keep this hospital the best place a child sick with cancer can be. Please help us in our ongoing fundraising quest! Xxx
every single penny really does count.
