Story
Firstly, thank you so much for visiting my JustGiving page. I am absolutely delighted to be running the 2023 London Marathon.
I'll be taking on this challenge for The Mitrofanoff Support Charity, which was introduced to me by my incredible mum, Sue Fell, who retired in 2019 having worked as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Urinary Diversions for 22 years. A Mitrofanoff is a catheterisable continent channel which accesses a native/augmented or neo bladder. Urine is then able to flow back up through the catheter thereby emptying the bladder of urine i.e. intermittent self-catherisation.
The charity was set up by one of my mum, Sue's, amazing, inspirational patients Kyla, who through her own personal experience, identified gaps in service provision with regard to patient support. Through lived experience and collaborative work with healthcare professionals, she worked tirelessly to improve the patient journey and The Mitrofanoff Support Charity was founded. You can read more about this here, https://www.mitrofanoffsupport.org.uk/
Growing up, I have watched my mum, Sue, devote her life to her work, and I couldn't be prouder to have the opportunity to support this charity by taking on this challenge, that last year, she raised a whopping £2,500 for! She has already participated in TEN London Marathons, and I'm thrilled to say she'll be upping it to ELEVEN, as in 2023, we'll be running it TOGETHER!
We would be so grateful for any donations through this JustGiving page, and will be keeping you updated with posts and stories of our training journey.
Thank you for taking the time to visit! Stay tuned...
