Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. This page has been dedicated to my brother, Mike Clarke after he sadly passed away aged 29.
Mike was playing his much loved sport of football when he suffered a heart attack and sadly died on the 11th September 2015. Shortly after losing Mike, I was put in touch with a charity called Cardiac Risk in the Young, a charity I had never heard of before. After learning a lot about the charity and all the research they have done into un-diagnosed heart conditions it left me with a feeling that never went away. That feeling was to help raise awareness and to help prevent other families from total devastation.
It was then I decided to fundraise in Mike's memory and help offer free heart screenings to anyone aged 14-35 years old. Cardiac Risk in the Young have research that 12 fit and healthy young people, die each week, in the UK from un-diagnosed heart conditions. If Mike was fortunate enough to have been offered the screening he would still be here with us now as it was treatable with the right diagnosis.
We have managed to hold a number of screening days so far, in the Northwich area, where we have had a number of referrals for further testing and a young girl (21) having life changing surgery. So the screenings do really work!! Your generous donations today will help us to continue to offer the screening days and hopefully help save more young lives.
