Story
Firstly, thank you so much for taking a look at this. I originally agreed to do a sponsored trek for my previous employer’s charity partner - Mental Health U.K. This was at the start of 2020, I had lost a colleague and then Caroline Flack’s death hit the news.
I must admit back in 2020 I was more ‘psyched’ - it was pre COVID, I was fitter and hadn’t spent every waking moment with my 3 children and hubby during a lockdown, not to mention my body was generally fairing better a few years back. It seems even more difficult now to not just do the physical challenge of trekking all day every day for 5 days across the sands, but not having any contact with home or facilities during this time. It’s the tent amongst the scorpions I need to get my head around!
Anyway I know I can do it, even if I am venturing out there not knowing anybody at all, and that is because I know, I have you lovely people supporting me for a very good cause.
There are so many charities in need right now and I want to support them all but on this occasion it is Mental Health U.K. MHUK offer help to a wide variety of people in this country; those that are painfully lonely, young people of our future that need to be taught resilience, those that have been lost in the system and many many more. Mental illness can affect anybody at any time and I have seen this first hand.
Anything at all you can donate is really really appreciated and I am very grateful as it will undoubtedly help me when I am lonely in the (-4) cold night of the desert, away from my family this March.
Thank you!
