Story
Hey! Thanks for visiting my Just Giving page. I’ll be running the London Marathon in April for MS-UK. It’s my first Marathon, and before this, the furthest I had ran was 8k 🫠 .. You’ll be pleased to know that I’ve started training, I’ve got SO much work to do, but I’m slowly getting there 😆
For those of you who know me, you’ll know that in 2021, I sadly lost my dad after his long battle to MS.
Multiple Sclerosis (Primary Progressive) is a neurological disease that attacks nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, causing a whole range of symptoms and side effects, from muscle weakness, vision problems, trouble walking and paralysis. It wasn’t too long after diagnosis when my dad lost his ability to walk, and over the years his illness progressively worsened causing his overall health to decline significantly.
Luckily for Dad, he had a huge support network of family who loved him to pieces. This meant that for a really long time, he was cared for solely by the closest people to him, which somewhat made the life-changing diagnosis that little bit easier to accept.
He was an amazing dad to me and my two sisters, and he loved his sport - especially football. Even at the age of 38, he was still kicking a ball around on the five aside team every week. He also loved to get into the woods for hikes or climb the peaks.
By the end his legs didn’t work, but mine do, and that’s why I want to do this.
Buttttttt… I’m going to need your help ☺️
I need to raise a minimum of £2000 which will be going towards the incredible charity MS-UK. While there is still no cure for the disease, MS-UK assists with ensuring people in the UK with MS are living the most comfortable and happiest lives possible.
They’re a great charity and I want to raise as much money as possibe and donate to a cause so close to my heart.
Anything you can possibly afford will be appreciated SO much.
Thank you
Kate ❤️
