Story
During the lockdown of 2020 I was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer when my son Reggie was only 1 and our lives changed forever. I was told by several doctors I was too young to have cancer (even though I had all the symptoms), and they believed I had IBS. It’s been almost 3 years of fighting but in the end my body has taken all it can and I now have weeks to live.
Before I pass away I wanted to make a difference and prevent my fate happening to another and their family by raising funds for Bowel Cancer UK. Early diagnosis can result in 72-91% survival rate past 5 years.
Throughout my cancer journey I was hugely inspired and encouraged by Deborah James (@bowelbabe) and her rebellious hope campaign to raise awareness, so my fundraiser will be linked to her Bowelbabe Fund Page and Bowel Cancer UK's Never Too Young campaign.
My husband Liam, my brother in law Deon and 8 of their friends are going to do a 10k run on my behalf on the 22nd April 2023. This race is a challenge running across raw terrain, thick mud, lakes and a series of obstacles.
The target was to initially to raise £5000 but this target was reached in a day by so many kind donations!
The lads will share their experience and photos of their day, along with promoting the charity and awareness about bowel cancer.
I just wanted to say thank you so much for your kindness and generosity, and for all of your support during this difficult time. Il cherish the love and memories forever.
***UPDATE***
27/03/2023 - Kat would like me to pass on a message of gratitude and love to everyone who has donated on her page so far and to all the wonderful comments. She was not expecting to raise this amount in the slightest, and to have a total donation at present of over £16k in a matter of days is incredible. I have now increased the target to £20,000. Thank you to everyone for their support. I will continue to keep you updated with any news. Liam
