Hi there
I thought you might like to know that I actually did finish the course!
We has a really good evening for the walk, dry (!), still, and comfortably warm. 530+ women walked the course, wearing illuminated rabbit ear headbands, flashing pink, green and blue. Yes, I know, it sounds naff, but it was rather effective to see the long column stretching out in front and behind as we set off from Angel Hill, and, as we spread out, they made good markers of what we had to try and overtake! I'm not sure that the dayglo orange tee shirt will become a permanent part of my wardrobe though...
Sara and I were both relieved that Suffolk has no real hills, because even the slight rises in the ground were challenging , especially towards the end. You never notice them in the car. How fortunate that we don't live in Sheffield! We are proud to have covered the distance in three and a half hours, including a fifteen minute break, but don't intend to make a career of walking. One lady of 93 was pushed all the way round ( in a wheelchair not by a hand on the back) by her granddaughter.
Early estimates suggest that in excess of £87,000 has been raised. So far, my contribution to that will be about £467, thanks to your very generous support. There were many, many posts on the memory board, half way round the course at the Hospice where we stopped for refdreshments, and it was clear that everone had their own reasons for wanting to support the Hospice 's work, me included.
If you haven't had time to contribute, it's still not too late, but to those who have, once again, thank you very much indeed
Love Kathy
