Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Some of you will know my granddaughter Delilah was diagnosed with Biliary Atresia (BA), a rare Liver Disease when just 6 weeks old. For those who don't know please take the time to read on.
Delilah became jaundiced as a very tiny baby. After several weeks of scans, blood tests and a liver biopsy, Kings College Hospital diagnosed Biliary Atresia, a rare children's Liver Disease found in 1:10000 babies- girls more than boys.
King's decided to operate and they performed what is known as a Kasai procedure to try and prolong the life of her native liver. Unfortunately there is no cure for BA and 80% of children diagnosed will need to have a Liver transplant by the time they are 20.
As you can see from the pictures Delilah is such a beautiful, but cheeky little girl (yes I’m her Nannie so I can say that!) She is now three years old requiring 6 monthly hospital procedures.
I was due to run the London marathon last year but took the decision to defer until this year having suffered injuries. I am really pleased to say that training is going well and I am looking forward to running the London Marathon 2022 and continue fundraising for Children's Liver Disease
The support and research CLDF carry out is phenomenal and with the money raised will allow them to provide continued support to families and enable on-going vital research giving hope for these children. Please donate to this fantastic charity if you feel able, every penny will count and is greatly appreciated
Thank you very much for your support x
