Story
A massive thank you to those who have already donated or are just about to. I think you're amazing.
I'm climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest free-standing mountain in the world, in October to raise money for Alice's Escapes. The charity was started by Alice Pyne, the young lady with terminal cancer who inspired millions and made international news with her Bucket List blog http://alicepyne.blogspot.co.uk/.
I am funding the whole cost of my trek myself, so all donations made via my JustGiving page will go directly to the charity.
Kilimanjaro stands 5895m high and the 90km trek will take place over 7 days. The physical and mental endurance required to achieve this at such altitude, with low oxygen levels and in such low temperatures will provide me with my greatest ever physical challenge. I'm doing lots of training and the path to Kili is proving to be a very personal journey for me. You can follow my story on Facebook at "Altitude For Alice". I'm also on Twitter @Altitude4Alice. Please like and share my Facebook, Twitter and JustGiving pages as much as you can. You could make a real difference to a child's life by doing so.
I'm hoping to raise heaps of money for a charity that does tremendous work, set up by an inspirational, selfless young woman with a heart overflowing with love. I've followed Alice's story for over two years now, laughing and sometimes crying at the indomitable way she tackled the ups and downs of living with terminal cancer, helping others every step of her way.
I spent nine years in my teens and twenties living with a seriously debilitating illness. I was lucky enough to eventually recover and will remain forever grateful to the people that helped me. If I can do a little something to help other families with a child with a serious or terminal illness then it will make this trek worthwhile to me.
And I'd really like your help. Please please consider donating and sharing the story of this fantastic charity. I know Alice would think you're amazing too.
