Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Finished!!! Well that was the toughest challenge I have ever faced but with a remarkable group of people, travelling through the most amazing countryside and just pure grit and determination I conquered the hills and mountains of China and 450km.
Thank you everyone for your support. This page will be open for a couple more months so I can try and reach £4,000 and double my initial target.
Hospiscare are a local charity, which is close to all the family's hearts as their care allowed Barbara, my mother in law, to keep her independence and visit as an outpatient rather than be on a ward (which she would have hated) and to the end were wonderfully kind, patient and treated us all as if we were part of their family.
Hospiscare provide an all-round service for people with terminal illnesses. All their services from specialists and medical experts to dentists, hairdressers and beauticians are provided free of charge and they need to raise £4 million to continue this invaluable work.
Before she became confined to her home Barbara used to go to the local gym to ride the static bikes there and try and keep herself moving. I will always remember her laughing with me and saying that the best bit was free wheeling down the 'virtual' hills. Well I decided to try and raise some money for this very worthwhile charity in memory of this wonderful lady.
The hills of China were certainly not virtual but they were awe inspiring and drove me to my limits, but I freewheeled down them and remembered Barbara.
