Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm daring the drop for Children's Heart Surgery Fund and will descend 164ft down Wakefield Cathedral on Saturday 2nd September 2023 to raise vital, life-saving funds for the Leeds Congenital Heart Unit, it's incredible patients and their families.
My daughter Rosalie was born with an undiagnosed congenital heart defect. At 9 days old I took her to A&E with poor feeding and lethargy. Within half an hour of arriving her condition took a dramatic downturn and she was put on life support, stabilised and transferred to Leeds Childrens Hospital. She was quickly diagnosed with her hearts defects and stabilised on PICU until her life saving open heart surgery on 8th March 2022 at only 4 weeks old. This was the most frightening and stressful time of our lives. From the minute we arrived in Leeds we were looked after and supported by Children’s Heart Surgery Fund, they provided accommodation in the hospital for the whole time we were there so we could be close by, care packs, food vouchers, emotional support and much more. Just seeing their friendly faces on the ward made you feel better. On top of the the family support they provide, they fund vital equipment, training and research for the heart unit. We would have felt very lost without all the support we received and we are forever grateful for the life saving surgery Rosalie had. Our little heart warrior is 1 year old now and has amazed us with her strength and bravery. I want to try and raise as much money as possible to support the Leeds Congenital Heart Unit so other patients and their families can benefit from the same amazing care we had.
Any amount you can give in support of this challenge is greatly appreciated, however big or small.Thank you very much.
