I am proud to be running as part of the Save the Rhino's London Marathon 2022 team on 2nd October!
Though I won’t pretend to be one of the runners braving a rhino costume on the day (maybe next time?), I hope to raise money and awareness for these critically endangered animals, the ecosystems they live in and the people who
dedicate their lives to their protection. Being from South Africa originally, these animals have a special place in my heart and I admire the work Save the Rhino do in South Africa and elsewhere, in both Africa and Asia..
Rhinos are at a crisis point. Today, three of the five species of rhino are Critically Endangered, meaning they face an extremely high chance of extinction in the wild; two of these species have fewer than 80 animals surviving.
We can halt and eventually reverse the twin threats of poaching and habitat loss so that no species of rhino are at risk of extinction. At the heart of this work is supporting the people tasked with monitoring and protecting the rhinos, ensuring they have the resources they need to work safely and effectively.
