We share the vision of an end to the pain & suffering of eating disorders

Story

I am taking part in this skydive for BEAT as it is a charity that is very close to my heart. I have suffered with anorexia nervosa for 3+ years now. And I can tell you honestly Living with an eating disorder is torture, each day is filled with pain, suffering and torment not just for the sufferer but for the family as well. BEAT is an AMAZING charity that supports both sufferers and their family/carers and provides help lines, support and advice in times of need to people with all forms of eating disorder, of all ages. BEAT has helped me through so many terrible times in which I felt like there was no point in carrying on anymore. BEAT gave me and my family hope, and advice through the toughest of times. And I will be forever grateful to them. I hate to think that so many people across the world suffer with these terrible, life destroying illnesses and I want to do anything I can to help people through heir struggles and support BEAT to carry on doing the amazing work they do.

I am doing this to prove my eating disorder wrong, when it says I have no purpose in life and I deserve nothing but pain and tourture. And when it says I don’t have a future and I will never achieve the things I want to achieve or that I am worthless and tells me I shouldn’t be alive. I am trying to let go I am fighting for freedom and I am fighting for all the thousands of people who are suffering and need suport or even hope. I want to inspire others and show them that they can fight back, that they are stronger than they think. Because if you try your hardest you can do and achieve anything you want to achieve. If you are suffering from an eating disorder and reading this right now remember this: you are worthy and there is a way out of this. There is nothing more that I want than to make a difference I want to help other people and inspire them to carry on fighting. Because life IS worth living.

Difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations.

I am doing this for freedom, for a cause that means the world to me, for helping other people and to prove that you can achieve anything you want to achieve.

At times when living with an eating disorder all you can think of is food, your whole personality is lost and all you can feel is numb no pain or emotions. But there is so much more to life than starving yourself. Your past does not define you and neither does anything anyone has said or anything that has happened. No one is perfect and everyone is different and unique in their own way.

Eating disorders are not a joke, phase or a “diet” gone wrong. They are Serious mental illnesses and can be fatal. You do NOT need to be underweight to have anorexia, weight loss is just a side effect of the true mental pain and torment that goes through your mind each day. The stigma surrounding mental illnesses is so so wrong and it HAS to end. No eating disorder is less valid or should be treated less seriously. The quicker intervention can happen the easier it is to help and treat a sufferer. People should not be declined help because they are not “thin” enough or ill enough. Any mental illness in anyway shape or form is serious. Please please be aware. And know that just because some one “looks” okay doesn’t mean they are. Every person is different and no 2 people will suffer from exactly the same struggles.

Beat do an amazing job and I am honoured to support them and help raise all the funds I can for their amazing work.

I will hopefully be doing some other fundraising events throughout this year.

Any form of donation would be appreciated. I am so excited and pleased I am doing this. This cause is so important to me I Am fighting everyday to prove myself wrong to prove to my self that I can and this is such a huge challenge but I am ready to take it on!
