Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am running the London Landmarks Half Marathon on 29th March 2020, in memory of my lovely Mum, Moira Venables. Mum had Alzheimer’s and passed away in April of last year. She is pictured here on one of our weekly visits to local tea rooms.
I hope to raise £750 for ARUK, a charity which means so much to me and my family.
ARUK is the UK’s leading Dementia charity. Currently there are over 850,000 people living with Dementia in the UK today. Around 25 million of us will know someone who is affected.
Alzheimer’s is a cruel, progressive disease that strips our loved ones of their memories, eventually taking over their bodies and their brain, so they are confused, distressed, and unable to eat or drink. It is heartbreaking to watch someone you love, die like this.
This is my first ever half marathon and I am way out of my comfort zone. I definitely won’t be fast! However, as they say, “Celebrate finish lines, not finish times.”
Any donation, however small, will make a difference and will be greatly appreciated.
If you are unable to, or would prefer not to donate, I’d be really grateful if you could spread awareness of ARUK, and their work, by sharing my JustGiving page.
Thank you,
Kate #Team ARUK.
