Story
In October 2020 my Dad sadly passed away from interstitial lung disease (idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis) which is a rare and difficult to treat lung disease. Unfortunately, life expectancy post diagnosis is poor and with Dad things progressed very quickly to him having advanced oxygen needs. He was only 71.
Dad loved his sports, spectating rather than participating, but he would literally watch anything! He had a ongoing joke with my Godfather that "next year he would get fit and do the Great North Run' - needless to say it didn't happen (but he did watch it religiously). So I'm going to do it for him in his memory and as a man who loved being from the north, it's only right that this is the run I do and raise some funds at the same time for Asthma and Lung UK - the only UK charity that fights for everyone's right to breathe.
Every pound I'm able to raise will take us a step closer to a world where everyone has healthy lungs.
I'd be very grateful for any donations you could make, it'll certainly help me do the distance too, knowing I'm raising funds for a great cause and doing Dad proud.
Thank you,
Kathryn x
