Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As some of you may know I took part in Ironman in 2019 and after that I said I would never do another. Well here I am.....another 2.6mile swim, 112 mile bike and 26 mile run to go.......
I signed up during lockdown but deferred last year due to Covid still being around. Since I deferred last year, my good friend Jay Lynchehaun found a recurrence of his brain tumour, which he was originally diagnosed with in 2011. Unfortunately after an operation and treatment, Jay sadly passed away on 7th March 2022 with his family by his side.
Jay was surrounded by love when he took his last breath in East Lancs Hospice. The care and support they offered Jay and his family, along with numerous other families on a daily basis, is nothing short of extraordinary.
There have been times during my training where I have thought to myself I cant do it, but each time I just think of how strong Jay was and I am so proud to call his beautiful wife Becky my friend. Becky has always been there for Jay and their two beautiful kiddies, Teddy (age 5) and Orla (age 2). The courage and strength Becky shows each day is inspirational. If Becky and the rest of the family can do this, on a daily basis, then I can do Ironman once more, to raise money for an amazing cause and in memory of an amazing person Jay!!!
Jay was the kindest person you could ever meet. He was grateful for each and every day and he loved his wife and kiddies so so much. Jay may not be here, but his memory will live on and those kiddies will know how amazing their daddy was.
