Story

I am getting ready to go to Moldova for a couple of weeks in April, to volunteer with Ukrainian refugees - mostly women and children.  I'll be working with my friends from a great organisation - Refugee Support Europe - who I know from the time I spent volunteering with refugees in Cyprus in 2019.  Anything you donate will support the work of the project I'll be part of.  Thankyou!

Here's a bit of background....

A Refugee Support team started work in Moldova on 11 March and, after a conducting a needs assessment, set up a unique and critical service in Chisinau.A grass roots organisation 'Moldova for Peace' is referring Ukrainian people who are living in Moldovan homes so they can choose the food and hygiene items from a 'shop' we call our Dignity Market. Each family has a budget of points they can spend on what they want. It's an important contribution to what they need and it is also supporting the generous Moldovans who have welcomed them in.

Across Europe, people on the move face an increasingly hostile environment, often after a traumatic journey. Refugee Support's pioneering Dignity Centres provide a safe, welcoming space where people on the move can choose food and hygiene items, just like a normal shopping experience.
