Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

The Macular Society has helped me and people like  me who suffer with Macular degeneration.  As well as helping towards funding to find a cure for the condition, they offer counsellng, advice and other helpful services.  Members are also kept up to date with the latest research and findings.

Volunteers also help to run local support groups,  speaking events and befriending services.

The macular area of the eye is the part that effects the central vision and there are a number of conditions that might cause someone to lose this part of their sight. There are juvenile dystrophies such as Stargardts disease and there is wet or dry macular disease that mainly affects older people.

If you want to know more about the Macular Society and what it does, you can visit their web page on www.macularsociety.org.
