Story
Sense Scotland works to make the world a more meaningful and brighter place for those with complex communication needs across the country, and this year they turn the big 3-5. For their birthday they are asking their supporters to raise sponsorship with their take on #35WaysIn35Days.
For my #35Waysin35Days Challenge I have decided to run 35 miles along the Three Lochs Way, which goes from Balloch through Helensburgh and Arrochar and finishes at Inveruglas.
I love running. Since I moved to Scotland 8 years ago, I've made most of my friends through running. I run to relax, to keep fit, to stay healthy, to help keep my asthma under control, to spend time with my friends, and to see the countryside. I was not a sporty child at all and my family still can't quite believe that this is how I choose to spend my spare time these days.
This year has been really hard for so many reasons (!) but one of the worst bits for me has been seeing the cancellation of all the races I was looking forward to and training for. I definitely train best when I have a big target to aim for, so when I saw the plans for #35Waysin35Days going round the office, I started to think about how I could take part.
My favourite kind of running is off-road, along the trails and in the hills and mountains we are so lucky to have here in Scotland. The Three Lochs Way has been on my list for a wee while but I'd never got round to it, and while it's listed as 34 miles I have been assured it's exactly 35! Fingers crossed for good weather!
