Story
Earlier this year I made the flippant decision one night to sign up for the London Marathon after getting back in to running during lockdown. I was a little surprised to say the least when the email came through to confirm I'd only gone and got a place!
Running my first ever marathon is a pretty big deal for me. I do like my running but I'm certainly not a natural, especially when it comes to long distance. Getting the miles in over this hot summer whilst juggling family life and work has been a huge challenge. It's fair to say I had somewhat underestimated the training involved and the mental and physical strain that came with it!
I'm super lucky to have got the chance to participate in this amazing event via the ballot however know it would be a missed opportunity not to try and raise some cash. I also know that raising some money for a charity close to my heart will be a real motivator in keeping me going and getting me across that finish line.
I'm running for this charity because I want a future where lives are not limited by prostate cancer. It's predicted that prostate cancer will be the most common cancer in the UK by 2030 however shockingly Prostate Cancer UK receive no government funding. They rely entirely on supporters to raise funds and awareness. Any money you donate will go towards better diagnosis, better treatment, better support and better prevention for all the incredible men in our lives.
Thanks
