I started running to get fit and improve my health in January 2017 only to find out I had a larger adenoma on my liver At the beginning of January 2018 I underwent major surgery to remove the large tumour along with half my liver and I promised myself that i would get fit again and aim for a half marathon. With the support of my fab friends jenny and Tina that is exactly what I am training for and have decided to fundraise in memory of my dad who suddenly passed away this March. The amazing people who worked tirelessly to get him to hospital as quickly as possible included the Devon air ambulance.
Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT) owns 2 helicopters and operates 7 days a week; in autumn 2016 DAAT extended the flying hours until midnight. Responding to approximately 1,400 incidents every year DAAT conveys patients to the specialist treatment centre most appropriate for their needs, giving them the best chance of survival. The service costs £5.5 million every year and DAAT is proud to be independent of Government and National Lottery funding, relying solely on the generous donations of the people, businesses and communities of Devon.
